It can be a daunting task opening up your own eatery. Even if you are not the cook/chef, there are still a million different things that need to get done at the premises, not to mention all the licensing and permissions you need to procure. If you are going through the process yourself for the first time, here are some of the things you need to do:
Appearances matter and nothing matters more than first appearances. Many patrons will walk into a brand new restaurant simply because it looks amazing or interesting from the outside and many will walk past even a well-known restaurant if it doesn’t catch their eye. In fact, this is one of the best ways you can get your restaurant up and running, and going viral on social media: make it catchy, interesting and intriguing. Instead of simply decorating your outdoor shade blinds Melbourne with the restaurant colours, draw an intricate design on it that will feature hidden words and phrases. Ask your patrons to find these words by handing them pictures of the design while they wait for their order. It will be a hit for sure.
Think Long Term
If you are going into the business worrying about when you will have to fold, don’t bother even trying. Instead, focus your energies on building something that will last a minimum of 5 years. This means proper tiled floors, high-end and high-quality equipment that will last the cooks and chefs a long time, proper furniture and protection from the damaging effects of direct sunlight like quality patio doors in Melbourne, proper plumbing and wiring etc. If you are getting furniture, get something that is neutral and dress it up so that you can change the cushions and backrests to update the look in a couple of years or else you will be stuck with a time travelling restaurant that is stuck in time.

Shakespeare actually got it wrong when he said, “What’s in a name?” It may not have mattered to Juliet Capulet, but it certainly matters to an establishment, whatever its service and product. So think long and hard before you replace the name board. Some owners prefer to keep the old name, especially if there is historical significance attached. What you name it is up to you but try to remember that it has to be something simple, something with cultural significance and in this day age, something that can be turned into a hashtag easily.
